چکیده

Seventy-eight metal species are examined for fluorescence properties of their chelates with 8-hydroxyquinoline-5-sutfonic acid (HQS); 42 of these fluoresce, many intensely. The optimum pH, determined by ligand ionization vs. hydroxo compiex formation, iles between 5 and 8. Cadmlum forms the most fluorescent complex In a purely aqueous solution. Fluorescence Is enhanced for many metals in surfactant (hexadecyltrlmethyiammonlum ion, HTA') containing media and in a water:dimethytformamide solvent. A number of metal ions quench the fluorescence of other metal-HQS chelates, Fe( I I1) being by far the most effective, and such quenching is accentuated in media contalnlng HTA'. The fluorescence propertles can be exploited by introducing the ligand through a postcolumn reactor or by Incorporating it in the eluent in a chromatographic system. Subpicomole detection limits are attainable for Cd, Mg, and Zn.

Micellar Liquid Chromatographic Determination of Aluminum Using 8-hydroxyquinoline-5-sulphonic Acid

A micellar liquid-chromatographic method is proposed for determination of Al(III) as the 8-hydroxyquinoline-5-sulfonic acid derivative, with spectrofluorimetric detection. Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide, a cationic surfactant (0.05 M), was used as mobile phase. The metal chelate was detected at λEx 410 and λEm 510 nm. Response to aluminum is selective in the presence of other metal ions. The me...

Plumbum(II) and Zinc(II) Complexes with 5-Chlorosalicylic Acid: Structure and Propertie

Abstract: Two new transition metal complexes, containing the acidic ligand 5-chlorosalicylic acid (H2L5), and 1,10-phenanthroline(phen) and 1,3-Di(4-pyridyl)propane (bpp) as secondary ligands are reported. They are formulated as {[Pb(HL5)2(phen)(H2O)]·H2O}n(1), [Zn2(HL5)4(bpp)2]n(2). All the complexes are characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffractions. Compoud 1 crystallizes in the triclini...

Radiation Syntheses of Molecularly Imprinted Polymer for Metal Ion Selective Separation

The copolymer metal complexes in the form of imprinted polymers were prepared from Poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA), Acrylic acid (AAc), Acrylamide (AAm) and 2-Acrylamido-2methyl propane sulfonic acid (AMPS) monomers irradiated in presence of different metal ions and crosslinking agent. Characteristics and some properties of the prepared imprinted and grafted polymers were investigated. Also the poss...

NMR, DFT and luminescence studies of the complexation of Al(III) with 8-hydroxyquinoline-5-sulfonate.

Multinuclear ((1)H, (13)C and (27)Al) magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1D and 2D), DFT calculations and fluorescence have been used to study the complexation of 8-hydroxyquinoline-5-sulfonate (8-HQS) with Al(III). The study combines the high sensitivity of luminescence techniques, the selectivity of multinuclear NMR spectroscopy with the structural details accessible through DFT calculations, a...

The Kinetic and Thermal Degradation Studies of N-(4-Acetyl-phenyl)-acetimidic Acid Pyridine-3-yl ester Metal(II) Complexes

Schiff base complexes of transition metals are of particular interest to inorganic chemists because of their structural, spectral and chemical properties, which are often strongly dependant on the nature of the ligand structure. Large number of metal (II) complexes with Schiff-base ligands has been extensively studied for their interesting structural specialties, applications and properties. Th...
